Meriam Santiago's privilege speech, December 4, 2013

I feel for Senator Mirriam Santiago . Imagine the callousness right in front of her. I couldn't bear it if I were in her position. I honestly think she's not supposed to stoop down to this dirty old man's level. What this earthenware needs is real experience on burning coal.

Sen. Miriam Santiago flashes a cross to Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile's direction

Santiago: On his side, he has the corrupt journalists in his payroll, corrupt military officials.

Santiago: I hope that this clash of titans in the Senate will lead to an Armaggedon in Philippine politics.

Santiago: If convicted, he will be jailed for 30 years & his ill-gotten wealth will be forfeited. It's not true that his age exempts him from criminal liability

Santiago: If he has the courage, he should switch places with me: He should be funny, and I'll be the asshole.

Santiago: In Cagayan, it is said that when he was a baby, his mother dropped him on his head. Kaya ganyan yan.

Santiago raises 3 fingers: To use the language of Katniss Everdeen in 'Catching Fire', ayan 3 times sick ka!

Santiago: Enrile with his eternal philandering & unexplained wealth desperately needs a shrink. His mind is sick, sick, sick!

Santiago: Enrile violated the law when he tried to pressure my husband, then a customs collector, to release a smuggled Toyota car.

Santiago: Enrile demands that I should answer the charges of his attack dog, former Sen. 'Pinky' Lacson.

Santiago: Let me tell you about the real Lacson. As PNP chief, he coveted the post of DILG secretary.

Santiago: TV repeatedly showed Lacson leaving the airport. But many believe Enrile provided safe haven to Lacson in Cagayan.

Santiago: This early, 'Pinky' Lacson's propaganda team is already touting him as a presidential candidate for 2016.

Santiago: The first time I challenged Enrile to a debate, he declined & instead called on Lacson to shower me with near-illiterate insults.

Santiago: I challenge Enrile to a public televised debate on the plunder charge against him. It should be held at the UP Malcolm Theater.
