Let me talk about my best friend today. We’ve been friends since we were 13 years old. Since then, we’ve become inseparable. We never wanted to get married. We wanted to grow old together and become neighbors till we die. That’s how glued we were to each other. Many years have passed and we’ve discovered horizons that tore us apart … life showed us a lot of roads to be taken, a few dreams to be fulfilled, and yet some more failures to be endured.

Along this busy avenue of life, I’m glad I have my best friend. Sometimes when everything else becomes a hopeless blurr, I have her hand to hold ... And then I will be fine.

“A friend hears

the song in my heart

and sings it to me

when my memory fails…”

Here are a few things that might delight her and bring her back to those younger days when our hearts knew nothing but falling stars and a few sad love songs…

Betty and Veronica

Wee-hour talks

Annabelle Lee

Cheap unto

Mother Marjorette blues

Red (oh my gosh)

The list could go on. I’m sure she’s got some on her list, too. I will be here for her forever. And she will be there for me too, like she is is right now while I am at a crossroad of my life. We will be adding up more on our list of memories, and we will forever be silly giggling best friends who could never get over the sadness of a setting sun.

"You know--one loves the sunset, when one is so sad..."
"Were you so sad, then?" I asked, "on the day of the forty-four sunsets?"
But the little prince made no reply.
