Why say I love you?

Why is it so easy for people to overuse the word love? I wonder how many of us really mean when we say I love you to someone. When you love someone you are willing to offer your life for that person. Too many times people say I love you to each other, and leave to preserve themselves rather than bear the burden of putting up with the other and all their flaws. Why is it so easy for people to equate love with only the good, nice, desirable things and forget all about the word when things become ugly if not mundane? Before saying I love you to someone, ask yourself first: "Am I willing to die for this person?" If the answer is no, then keep your mouth shut and make a difference.
